Dad, Boppa- his favorite words....

Ken passed away peacefully Saturday, September 16, 2023.

Ken was born June 9,1949 to Roy Otto and Betty Lu (Mielke) Hasse in Glencoe, MN, the third son of seven children.

Ken spent the majority of his life living in Carver County so he could be in close proximity to his family.

Ken graduated from Mound High School in 1968. During high school, he met Christine at a dance hall in the summer of 1965, he knew from the moment he met her that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. They were married on April 11, 1969 and attended the University of Minnesota together, where Ken spent over the next decade attending college, working multiple jobs and raising their three children.

Ken was survived by wife Christine (Lohr) Hasse, his three children: Lisa and husband Dan Lawler, Ryan Hasse, Mychal Hasse and five grandchildren: Briana and husband Alex Hallin, Nickolas and fiancé Hannah (Angell) Sennes, Kira Hasse, Audri O'Rourke and Parker O'Rourke-Hasse.

Ken also was survived by five of six siblings: Larry Hasse; Ron and wife Stephanie Hasse; Richard and wife Kerri Hasse; Jenni and husband Dale Rademacher, Judi and husband Chris Bright; along with nieces, nephews and their families.

Ken was preceded in death by his wonderful father Roy, mother Betty Lu and oldest brother Stanley Hasse.

Ken loved attending the Carver County Fair, this was a great way for him to connect with siblings, cousins and others in his beloved community. He also loved the Minnesota State Fair and went as many times as he could during the 10 day fair. You could always find him by the pork chop on stick stand and with a peach in his hand. During the "non-fair" times, Ken loved to attend car shows, boat shows or anything with a motor with his son Ryan; a spectator at his son Mychal's karate tournaments; watching ANY University of Minnesota sports-he's a die hard Gopher fan, he says he bleeds Maroon and Gold. He loved to fish and spent countless hours on the water locally or at our family cabin. He loved the cabin as it was next door to his brother Ron's family cabin- such great memories. He was always seeking to catch "the big one" in reference to a large mouth bass. Ken, his wife, their daughter Lisa, and granddaughter Briana enjoyed spending time riding and showing horses. He was a great sideline coach and never missed a horse show. He purchased the horse of his dreams, Brush Fire V, and his eyes lit up every time he got to see his horse. In his later years he loved to spend time with all 5 of his grandchildren. His other love and passion was baking and decorating for the holidays- he spent hours planning, prepping and implementing the most beautiful displays and tasteful desserts. From the time his three children were long and continuing the tradition with his five grandchildren, he made Christmas a huge event including gifts, decor, music, and of course his beloved Christmas torte. He did all of this with love and passion to see the adoration in his family's eyes. Ken was always most comfortable in front of the grill or making food for anyone that would let him. Ken loved music of all genres, some of his favorites were The Beach Boys, John Denver, Pentatonix, Christian and Country music. Ken was very dedicated to his faith and involved in his church as an active member in men's bible studies and the choir.

Ken loved to take pictures- we have thousands and thousands of photos and slides that we would look at with him frequently.

With all of this in mind, he has requested to have a Celebration of Life Gathering displaying his pictures, playing his favorite music along with a few of his favorite foods, open house style.
