Kathryn Caroline Nye

A Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Sister

Kathryn Caroline Nye, age 71, of Ramsey, MN passed away unexpectedly in her home on April 28th, 2023. She was born on January 9th, 1952 to Paul and Jean Gilbertson.

Kathy grew up in Spring Lake Park and graduated from Spring Lake Park High School in 1970. She met her lifetime love, Robert Nye, at a party in 1971. They were married October 20th, 1973. Together they had one son and two daughters.

Kathy was a wonderful wife and mother. She spent a great deal of time raising her children, caring for their home, and making sure they always knew they were loved.

Her joy and passion, outside of her family, came from gardening and cooking/baking. She had such patience and a gentle touch with gardening. Her flowers would bloom and her vegetables would flourish. She spent many hours outside and in her garden. She always made sure all of natures creatures were well fed. She was also an amazing cook. Her banana bread was divine, her cookies (a grandkid favorite) delicious, and she had a touch with all her other meals so they were always perfect.

Kathy was also a fierce advocate for her family. Soon before her mother’s passing, she became a guardian of her sister, Sue. She was diligent in making sure she was always cared for. She also researched and advocated for her husband’s health limitlessly. If you had a problem, she researched the ins and outs. She believed that the earth had many natural elements for healing. And she believed strongly in the body’s ability to heal itself. She had a heart of gold and a willful spirit.

Her faith was strong, especially in the most recent years. Our Lord and Savior called her home and all we can say is “Goodbye, We Love You, and we will see you again.”

Kathy is survived by her husband: Robert Nye; her Children: Brian (Jessica) Nye, Jennifer (Ryan) Nye, and Brenda (Andrew) Petcoff; her grandchildren: Owen, Mark, Benjamin, Zoey, Griff, and Jax; her siblings: Paul (Betty) Gilbertson and Sue Gilbertson; and many more relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Paul and Jean Gilbertson; her brother: Bill Gilbertson; and her nephew: Steven Gilbertson.

There will be no service. It was Kathy’s wish to be cremated and have a small memorial with immediate family.
