life story
A living legend
Kathy passed peacefully into Jesus’ loving arms on Sunday, March 9th, surrounded by her loved ones and friends, after a hard-fought battle with small cell lung cancer.
Kathy was born March 16th, 1959, in St. Paul, MN to Sharon Schoeller (Thiel) and Jack Rhode, and grew up with 3 sisters, Debbie, Rene, and Jacqueline. Kathy contributed to her community in many ways. Her primary career was as a realtor, though, in addition, she created and sold beautiful jewelry, worked as a car saleswoman for some time, and cleaned houses, among many others- a true hustler. For those who knew Kathy, she often had an extravagant hat on, which seems fitting, as she wore many “hats” in her community. Her most important job was as a mother to three beautiful children, and as a grandmother and great grandmother. She had a heart of gold.
Kathy was the life of the party to her core- some might say a living legend. She spent many nights on the town with friends, listening to live music, dancing, and enjoying herself, lighting up every room. In the 11 months since her diagnosis, she traveled extensively and spent lots of time with her family and friends, living life to the fullest. She went out with a bang!
Kathy was preceded in death by her father Jack Rhode, husbands Steven “Lefty” Lefkowich and David Lindbeck, and grandparents. She leaves behind her mother Sharon, loving partner Ron, ex-husband Dan Trebesh, sisters Debbie, Rene, and Jacqueline, and many nieces and nephews, her children, Steve (Leah), Felicia (Jared), and Tina (Keith), and many grandchildren, Dominic (Casey), Angelo, Lexi, Ben, Stella, Emma, John, Nora, Lucy, Jack, and her mini-me, Gloria Jane, and great grandchildren, her forever best friend and “wife,” Monica Schafer, and her loyal dog Teddy, who didn’t leave her side, even after her soul left her body.
A service will be held on Tuesday, March 25th, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in St. Paul Park, 920 Holley Ave #1, St Paul Park, MN 55071. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM. Luncheon following the service at 12:00 PM. A collection box will be available for donations to ease the financial burden of funeral costs and medical bills.
Kathy’s friends and family will remember her by her fierce love, unwavering empathy, vivacious laughter, unmatched style (she was always dressed to the nines), and her commitment to fun in every sense of the word. We know she is dancing in Heaven with Jesus and loved ones who have already passed. Her faith was everything to her, Jesus was her Savior. We find comfort in knowing she will be forever in commune with Him.
