Savannah, GA, USA
Katherine Anne Trulove, née Kendrick, died October 11, 2022 at the age of 61 in Savannah, Georgia.
Born on September 10, 1961 in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the eldest of six children and was looked up to throughout her life with great affection by her four sisters and brother.
After growing up and attending school in Atlanta, in Smyrna, and in Statesboro, Georgia, where she had a loyal circle of friends, many of whom were lifelong, Katherine enlisted in the Navy, where she met and married Brad Trulove. She served for seven years, volunteering in the Navy Family Ombudsman Program, supporting Navy families and linking them with commanding officers. Her own family grew, and she and Brad welcomed baby Jessica as they were stationed in Jacksonville, Florida; baby Samantha in Yokosuka, Japan; and baby Emily in Norfolk, Virginia. She was the quintessential Navy wife for most of twenty years,
She and Brad eventually settled in Savannah and, post Navy-life, Katherine enjoyed working at Old Savannah Tours, going to NASCAR races, and taking care of her husband, her daughters, and a beloved dog named Piggy. As the girls grew up and left home, Piggy became Katherine’s constant companion as she moved with Brad for work in Texas and Maryland.
Savannah once again her home, in the last years of her life, she was thrilled to reunite with daughter Sarah, who Katherine, as a young woman, had placed for adoption.
A softhearted and helpful person, concerned for those less fortunate than herself, Katherine had a gentle and giving nature. She was a sweet presence yet passionate about issues she believed in.
Katherine was preceded in death by her mother, Sara Brown Kendrick; uncles Don and Ronnie Brown; aunt Meg Kendrick; grandmothers Mimi Brown and Margaret Kendrick; and grandfathers Henry Brown and Samuel M. Kendrick.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Chief Petty Officer, Retired, Bradley Trulove; daughters: Emily Trulove (Christopher Oliver) of Savannah, Georgia; Samantha Trulove (Andrew Kirby) of Norcross, Georgia; Jessica Trulove of Denver, Colorado; and Sarah Pfahler (Brandon) of Fayette Co, Georgia; grandchildren: Emma Griffith, Arden and Abigail Pfahler, and Andrew Lupo; and great-grandchildren Loki and Asher;
