Karen Marie Hanisch, 61, of Park Rapids, MN passed away on Fri April 1, 2022 at home.

Karen M. Marsh was born Oct. 24, 1960 in Park Rapids to parents Diane (Bethel) and Leon Marsh. She married Dean W. Hanisch in 1978, and graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1979.

She worked for the DNR for 35+ years, as a dispatcher on wild fires in the early years. She was part of a softball team winning many awards and tournaments with her team. She belonged to a bowling league, and won “Queen of Lanes” in 2009.

In her free time she enjoyed fishing, gardening, cross stitching, reading, and really loved to go camping with her husband and grandchildren.

Karen is survived by spouse – Dean W. Hanisch of Park Rapids, MN; son – Logan (Alexis) Hanisch of Park Rapids, MN; granddaughters – Morgan and Jordyn; daughter – Lacey Hanisch of Park Rapids, MN; grandson – Ian. mother – Diane Balstad of Park Rapids, MN; brother – Bryan (Annette) Marsh of Bemidji, MN; sister- Valerie (Rick) Nelson of Detroit Lakes, MN of Detroit Lakes, MN. Many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her father – Leon Marsh; Nephew – Jethro Nelson; sister Renae Marsh; step father – Donald Balstad.
