Karen Rogers, 74, Park Rapids, MN, passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.

Karen Georgette (Hamblin) Rogers was born at St. Joseph Hospital, Park Rapids to Claude and Opal Hamblin on February 22, 1949. Karen was the 10th child of 13 children, nine brothers and three sisters.

Karen grew up on her parent's farm west of Nevis, MN. She enjoyed being outdoors and spent much of her time with the animals and was always willing to help with the many chores on the farm.

Karen attended Nevis School and Graduated in 1967. She was referred to as "quiet as a mouse" as she was small, quiet, and shy. Along with her lifelong best friend Sandy, she cherished her lifelong classmate friends, and often gathered for class reunions and lunching at local cafes.

Karen married her husband Dale Rogers from Park Rapids, MN on November 22, 1969. They had 3 children together, Dale Jr., Georgette, and Rhonda. In June of 1977, they bought their current home fulfilling the dream of having a small farm.

In 1983, tragedy struck their family when their daughter Rhonda was hit by a car waiting for the school bus and did not survive the accident. She was only 4 years old.

Karen was a hard and dedicated worker in everything she did. She worked for Service Master cleaning service for 31 years until she started her own cleaning business. Karen worked up until the cancer just would not let her continue.

Karen loved her garden! Every year she sometimes had 3 gardens going and would always be busy taking care of them. She canned and made special things for all family and friends. At Birthdays, Holidays and deer hunting you would always find a large crowd at their farm enjoying good food and company.

Karen loved to make crafts as Christmas gifts and would spend months preparing these gifts. Her kitchen towels and Christmas tree ornaments will always be treasured.

Karen is preceeded in death by her daughter Rhonda Rogers; both parents, Claude and Opal Hamblin; brothers, Ed, Laurel, Virgil, Oscar, and Bert.

She is survived by her Husband of 54 years Dale Eugene Rogers; children, Dale Eugene Rogers Jr. and Georgette Keezer; sisters, Luella, Rita, Connie; brothers, Pat, Andy, Wally, and Terry; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, whom she loved with all her heart!
