June Marie (Tangen) Clinton

June was born June 1, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN and passed away peacefully on May 30, 2022 at Woodbury Senior Living in Woodbury, MN. She enjoyed life for 2 days shy of 99 years…but she liked to round up, so we’ll call it even. Her mind was sharp, her fashion was on point, her social calendar was more crowded than her grandchildren’s, and her zeal for life was endless.

June attended Chisago City High School in Chisago City, MN and then went on to graduate from St. Cloud State Teachers College in St. Cloud, MN with a Bachelor of Science degree. She taught English in Minnesota for a few years at Eden Prairie High School and then moved to the Monterey Bay / Salinas area in California in pursuit of a new adventure.

Once in California, she continued to teach and created a new life for herself. At 28 years of age, June met the love of her life – Bill Clinton – and married him three months later. Together, they built a house (Bill was a building contractor), a loving family with two children, and 62 years of marriage.

June had many passions – public speaking, creative writing (including presenting many original works for special events), fashion, being an active member of her church and many community organizations, taking her daily walk, and making friends wherever she went.

10 years ago, June lost her beloved sister, husband, daughter, and son-in-law within 6 months of each other. When asked how she kept going, she responded, “I’m grateful for the wonderful years I had with them. The best way to honor them would be to keep on living.”

At age 95, June began her third act by moving back to Minnesota to be closer to family. Upon arriving, she quickly made friends at Woodbury Senior Living and was known for her radiant positivity, poker skills, and dressing to the nines each day.

June was preceded in death by her husband Bill, daughter Marie Wilson, son-in-law Riley Wilson, and siblings Earl Tangen and Joan Will.

June is survived by her son, Mark Clinton, daughter-in-law Kate Clinton, grandchildren Lisa Clinton Loftus (Peter Loftus), Hailey Clinton (Christine Clinton), and Jeff Clinton, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

Upon June’s request, there will be no funeral. Please direct memorials to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shephard in Salinas, CA (donation link available at https://goodshepherdsalinas.com). Her family asks that you break out your favorite outfit and do a random act of kindness on her behalf.
