About June
June’s adventurous spirit led her to enlist in the United States Air Force at the age of 19, eager to see the world. She served as a member of the Military Police and was stationed in England for 3 years. After her discharge, she returned to the United States, but she missed the rain and fog of England and soon made her way back. She then remarried and eventually emigrated with her family to sunny Australia for another great adventure.
June spent the next 22 years in Australia raising her two sons while building a career in government social services. In 2013, after much deliberation, she felt called to return to Minnesota. She often said she believed God was urging her to be closer to her extended family. Within eight months of returning home, she received her cancer diagnosis.
For the next 12 years, June endured surgeries and treatments with remarkable strength, courage, humor, and grace. Until her passing, she was employed by Xcel Energy, where she was recognized as an outstanding trainer and mentor.
Throughout her cancer journey, June was surrounded by the steadfast love and support of close family and friends. She was a strong and independent woman who cared deeply for her family, friends, and anyone in need of a helping hand or kind word. June had a gift for decorating and a wonderful eye for color. Whether painting walls or creating note cards, she filled her home with bright colors that reflected her joy for life.
