About June

June LaVerne Porthouse Bjerke was born on January 5, 1925 to John & Lillie Porthouse in Chicago, IL. After graduating from High School, June was employed by First National Bank in Chicago.

On June 9, 1945, June was united in marriage to Glenn A. Bjerke in Sanford, FL. After Glenn’s Naval service the couple moved to Marshall and were blessed with three children.

June worked alongside Glenn as CFO of Bjerke Electric, Inc. Upon retirement the couple moved to Florida. Upon Glenn’s passing in 1988 June moved back to Marshall. In 2019, June moved to the Minnesota Masonic Home and Care Center in Bloomington.

June was a 75 year Member of the Order of Eastern Star. Longtime member of the VFW and Legion Auxiliary.

June passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023 at the Minnesota Masonic Home and Care Center.

June is survived by sons Gary (Pat) Bjerke, Tom (Marie) Bjerke, six Grandchildren and six Great-grandchildren.

June was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn, and daughter Cheryl.
