life story
A Precious Woman of the Lord
On January 23, 2026 Julia Catherine Taylor went home to be with the Lord. She was a giving mother, patient and loving wife, a fun grandmother, caring towards extended family and friends to many in her life's journey. Her ministry was to give gifts to help encourage all that she met, whomever they were. She is survived by her husband, John Christopher, son Caleb, and daughter Kathryn (Katie); step sons Casey and Kyle, and step grandson Jacob, and her sister Mary, as well as a host of other family members. Julia was a gifted musician and loved playing as well as listening to Christian hymns and worship music. Her caring nature glowed brightly, whether it was working as a nurse with discouraged and downcast patients or helping new immigrants learning a new way of life in America, or teaching a newly converted Christian. Though at times challenged by her own health in the latter years, she was fierce in her strong belief to be a survivor. Born in Ames, Iowa, she learned to love the farm land while her family moved about. She was tender with all animals and frequently sought out their company. She was encouraged by an aunt to be a nurse, and subsequently received her B.A. from Rush University. Her joyful laughter was contagious, often in response to gentle teasing of others. Julia loved to attend Bible studies with other women and often would pray over them. Even in her latter days, her body enduring constant pain, her cheerful and upright attitude never ceased.
An open invitation is planned to celebrate Julia's life at Bethel Baptist Church of Schaumburg, IL on March 15 at 2:00 pm. A meal will be provided at 1:00 pm.
