Judy Alford
January 4, 1941 – May 7, 2022
Bloomington, MN, USA
Judy Alford, 81, of Bloomington, Minn., passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by her side on May 7, 2022.
Judy was born on January 4, 1941, to Rose and John Reifenberger in Minneapolis, MN. Judy grew up in Northeast Minneapolis. After graduating from Edison High School, she worked at Honeywell.
Judy married her soul mate, LeRoy (Lee) Alford on April 23, 1966. Soon after they purchased a house in Bloomington and welcomed four kids over the next 5 years. Judy was known as an avid gardener, a puzzle expert, and a knick-knack decorating pro. She also adored children. She found great joy in providing daycare and was a second mom to many kids in the neighborhood.
She was feisty with a heart of gold and above all else loved her family. She lived for family gatherings and weekends at the cabin, hosted monthly birthday parties, cleared her calendar for grandkid school events, talked daily on the phone with family when she wasn’t with them, and created family traditions that will live on for future generations. Christmas was her main event where she was known for her popcorn ball making and decorating her tree with so many precious ornaments you could barely see the branches beneath.
Judy is survived by her husband of 56 years LeRoy (Lee) Alford; children Jim (Stephanie) Alford of Bloomington, Leland (Heather) Alford of Savage, Joe (Holly) Alford of Bloomington, and Jenny Posch of Lakeville; siblings John (Babe) Reifenberger, Joanne (Dave) Buerke; and seven grandchildren, Haley, Jack, Hannah, Jens, Ellie, Rose, and Cody. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rose & John Reifenberger; and daughter-in-law, Amy (Olesen) Alford.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 18, at the Church of St. Edward (9401 Nesbitt Ave. S., Bloomington) at 10 am with visitation one hour prior. To honor and celebrate Judy’s life, please plant flowers, donate to the American Cancer Society, or throw a family party just for the heck of it.
