Joyce Marie Baird, 88, of Bigfork, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at the Bigfork Valley Hospital.

Joyce was born on August 20, 1935 in Blackduck, Minnesota, the daughter of Clifford and Florence (Sutton) Bauer. She grew up in Blackduck and graduated from Blackduck High School in 1954.

She married John Baird on December 10, 1955 and together they raised 4 children. Joyce and John were married for 60 years. Joyce was a homemaker on their farm for many years and later worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Good Samaritan Center in Blackduck, and also worked as a Home Health Aide, retiring from the Good Samaritan Home in August of 2000. She also served as an Election Judge for many years.

Joyce was a member of the Gemmell Community Church and Ladies Aide, and also attended other churches depending on her living situation. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #0372.

Joyce enjoyed animals, especially dogs, gardening, and watching things grow. She liked to play cards with family and friends, and in her later years enjoyed Bingo and looking at magazines, reading, and music programs.

Joyce is survived by her daughters, Rita Baird of Hines, MN and Lorna (Jerry) Pula of Bigfork, MN; a son, Karl (Barb) Baird of Northome, MN; daughter-in-law, Myrna Baird-Busch of Gemmell, MN; 8 grandchildren, Benjamin (Susan) Baird, Damian (Amanda) Baird, Jacob (Amber) Baird, Jesse (Stacy) Baird, Brodie Baird, Kelly (Adam) Holmied, Kayla (Joel) Salazar, and Karla (AJ) Furman; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Baird; parents, Florence and Clifford Bauer; and a son, Richard Baird.
