Joseph William Norris

September 24, 1946 – September 22, 2026

Toronto, ON, Canada

Joseph “Joe” Norris passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 in Toronto, ON.

Born in Liverpool, England in 1946 to Joe (Sr.) and Elizabeth “Lily” Norris, Joe is survived by his former wife Alice, sons Joe and Chris, grandchildren Sinéad and Patrick and his brother, Philip.

Joe was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Frank.

After immigrating to Canada with his family as a child, Joe graduated from New Toronto Secondary School before beginning a career as a machine tool operator. He plied his trade on both sides of the Atlantic, moving in his early 20’s to Londonderry, Northern Ireland where he met his former wife, with whom he returned to Canada.

Eventually, life as a machinist didn’t offer the kind of excitement Joe was looking for. His search for something different had him travelling far and wide, working various jobs, such as gold mining in Northern British Columbia and bartending at his brother’s hotel bar in Shelburne, ON. When the opportunity arose to work in the world of film and TV production in Toronto as a driver, he had finally found his calling. Joe never looked back, and the friendships and memories he made as a member of IATSE Local 873 would sustain him until the end of his working days.

Joe will be remembered as someone passionate about every aspect of life. Whether travelling with friends or family, creating his own hobby farm, prepping for a party, buying the next round, or just trying to get the facts straight during a lively discussion, he did it all to the max. He left a mark (sometimes literally) on all who met him. He loved his family and his friends with that same passion and he will be greatly missed for it.
