About Joe
Joseph J. Hahn, 58, of Blackduck, MN died on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at his home in Langor Township.
Joe was born on April 15, 1963 in Redwood Falls, MN to LuVern and Monica (Macho) Hahn. He grew up on the family farm in Madelia, MN with his parents and nine siblings. He graduated from Madelia High School in 1981.
After graduation, Joe enlisted in the US Army and served from 1981-1987. He had a passion for hunting with his brothers and many friends. He fell in love with the Blackduck area. He enjoyed the wilderness and peace it brought to him. After hunting in the Blackduck area for 8 years, he wanted to call it home.
He purchased his farm on a good old fashioned handshake from Roger Stenson. Once in Blackduck, he started his own floor covering business, Hahn’s Floor Covering. Working for Sid Moe through Bemidji Mercantile was one of his fondest memories of his flooring career. He was very sought out for his strong work dedication and took the utmost pride in every job he did.
After retirement, customers would still call seeking his expertise. Joe served on the Langord Town Board as a Supervisor from 1998-2007. He was an amazing craftsman who enjoyed working with his hands. He had a keen eye for detail and put many hours into crafting things out of wood. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing. If he wasn’t working in the shop, you could find him just sitting out there enjoying the scenery.
Later in life, he learned how to trap with Gary Strand, ‘The Legend’ as Joe would call him. Those two sure had some stories! He loved and was very proud of all of his children and grandchildren and often said he could only “handle one at a time!”
On April 9, 2011 Joe married his true love and soul mate. In their 10 years of marriage they shared many adventures. They were lucky enough to travel to Costa Rica not once but twice! During their marriage they had many trials but stuck together and made the absolute best of it. Most recently, was his diagnosis of cancer.
Joe fought hard for 2.5 years. He was so determined to beat it. Unfortunately, God had other plans for him, and called him home too soon. Not once did he ever back down from the fight and proved that up until his last breath! Throughout his life he made many great friendships that he cherished and truly had a heart of gold. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Bobbi Jo; children, Jared (Shannon) Hahn, Adam Hahn, Nikky Hahn, Michael Hahn, Corey Peterick, Cassey (Travis) Talberg; grandchildren, Jaxon & Paityn Hahn, Gauge, Grayson & Grantley Talberg, Bailey & Teague Peterick; siblings, Julie (Ken) Straub, Annie Hahn, Vikki Hahn, Mary (Russ) Baldwin, Sue (John) Hahn-Wilhere, Jim Hahn, Bill Hahn, John (Becky) Hahn; father and mother-in-law, Gary & Jackie Strand; in-laws, Nicole (Jerry) Wizner and Amy Benedetti (Rick).
