Joseph “Joe” A. Torgerson

(2/28/1947 - 2/10/2024)

Joseph “Joe” Allen Torgerson, Columbus MN, died on February 10th, 2024, with his family and friends at his side. Joe was born in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Amery WI High School in 1965. Following graduation, he attended and graduated from UW River Falls with a degree in finance. He spent six years in the US Army Reserve and was discharged at the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Joe lived in Columbus MN for most of his life. Prior to his retirement he was the president of Dependable Brake Systems for 35 years.

Joe was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying around the Midwest with friends and family. He was a self-taught mechanic. He spent hours working on anything with an engine and would always spend time discussing them with anyone who would be interested. He enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling, jet skiing and spending time with his family. Every fall he would spend time with family deer hunting. He spent countless hours maintaining the land and building bonfires for the whole family to sit around and tell stories. He loved his cats, and as much as he didn’t want to admit it, loved the German Shepherds that Sharon raised and showed. He was an avid supporter of the military all his life.

Joe is survived by the love of his life, Sharon Todoroff, Sons Lance, Lino Lakes MN, Troy, Weston, WI, and Travis (Nicole), New Richmond, WI, grandchildren Evan, Kayla, Alec, and Myka. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph H. and Eva Mae Torgerson, and father-in-law Fred Clark and sister-in-law Carmen Clark and Granddaughter Thea Torgerson.
