life story
Now Shining Her Light From Above
Mom, Daughter, Sister, Friend
Light in Our World
Surrounded by love, Joie took her final breath and passed away peacefully, completing a difficult battle with kidney and liver failure. She fought hard during her 9 weeks and 6 days in hospice and made the moments count.
Her bright personality drew in everyone she met, from strangers in a store to her remarkable care team of nurses and Sisters at Our Lady of Peace . She was full of joyous spirit and spunk, creating cozy, welcoming space for everyone to be part of. She was honestly candid, fiercely protective of those she loved, and always ready to make a silly face or share a funny story to bring smiles to others. She had a love of music, impressive artistic abilities, and the warmest hugs. Joie was known for her collection of fun light-up objects, LOL dolls, and winning scratch off tickets! She was always ready for a Target run.
Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

Beyond Gratitude
During the almost 10 weeks that Joie made Our Lady of Peace her home (and did she!), we were blessed with some of life's most caring and nurturing nurses and Sisters. They honored Joie's wishes, provided the details she needed to be comfortable going through the journey toward end of life, and fully enjoyed her as a person. She was gifted with more than caregivers - she gained friends that truly cared about her well-being and grieve her death along side us. The support and love that was received by Joie and each of the loved ones who visited was immeasurable! We will forever treasure that Our Lady of Peace was Joie's final home.
