Jonathan David Frieden, 43, of Park Rapids, MN passed away on November 9, 2024. Though he dearly wanted to stay, Jonathan was clear that he was going Home to be with God and to reunite with his mother and father in heaven.

Jonathan was born in Wilmington, Delaware on December 17, 1980, followed minutes later by his identical twin, Rob. Jonathan graduated from Rockridge High School and went on to study political science at Valdosta State University, and law at William Mitchell College of Law. Jonathan met Sarah Ulmer while studying law and the couple married in 2007.

Jonathan treasured being a “girl dad” to their three daughters: Addilyn (16), Ceelia (11), and Saige (5). His girls were the light of his life.

While faith and family were the keystone of Jonathan’s life, he was also devoted to his local community. After serving nearly a decade as an Assistant County Attorney, Jonathan became The Hubbard County Attorney in 2017. Jonathan derived a deep sense of purpose and joy from his work. He was passionate about justice and the law. As one of his Assistant Attorneys described him: "Jonathan was a prosecutor who was much more interested in justice and getting it right than in winning." Jonathan loved being in court. He lit up the courtroom and the County Attorney's office with his quick-wit, enthusiasm, and unending optimism.

Jonathan loved every moment he spent with his girls, with his six siblings and their families, fishing, golfing, debating politics, and dearly loved his time serving the community with local judges, law enforcement, support staff, and fellow attorneys of his beloved “up north.”

Jonathan is preceded in death by his parents C. Robin Frieden (2005) and John Frieden (2024). In addition to Sarah and the girls, Jonathan is also survived by his twin brother Robert (Kristin) Frieden and siblings Andi (Joe) Gulley, Michelle Frieden (Susan Rolle), Liz (Benn) James, Daniel (Katie) Frieden, and Isaac Frieden (Kelsey Wang), 18 nieces and nephews who all love their uncle Jonathan, and dear friends and family across the country.
