life story

John-Mark Ahinful, passed away peacefully on July 7th, 2026, following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born on July 1, 1959, in Dawurampong, Ghana, West Africa, John-Mark was the son of Arthur and Mary Ahinful, and one of ten children.

John-Mark accepted Jesus at an evangelical crusade in Ghana- dramatically changing the direction of his life and prompting opportunity to come to the United States in 1980. Between 1980-1993, he lived in NY and PA; obtained his bachelor’s degree in counseling from Valley Forge College, PA. In 1993, John-Mark answered an invitation to move to Minnesota and began his career in automotive sales. He loved Honda!

Throughout the years to follow he became a cornerstone within his faith, family, missions, and business communities.

FAITH: A man with tremendous passion and reverence for God, John-Mark will be remembered by his unwavering FAITH in Jesus Christ. Praying, singing and playing the congas were his favorite forms of worship.

FAMILY: When John-Mark met Jana, he was undeniably smitten and driven to marry this beautiful Godly woman. John-Mark adopted Jackson as his son, and joined by his daughter, Peggy - he was a proud father, who nourished and loved his family dearly.

MISSIONS: A proud Ghanaian man, John-Mark led numerous missions’ trips to Ghana, and participated in trips to China, Peru, Jordan and Syria. Spreading the Good News of the Gospel, was his calling.

HELPING OTHERS: A kind, knowledgeable, patient man, John-Mark had a gift of connecting with everyone he met. He truly made life, and car-buying seem simpler.

If you knew John-Mark, you also know he was a connoisseur of style—whether in his dapper clothing or luxury Honda; he also loved attending sports events and a fierce game of pickleball.

Jackson, Peggy and all have had a front-row-seat of what it is to be raised by a Godly man. He was a pure example by honoring God, honoring Jana (his wife) and the hands and feet of Jesus. He will be dearly missed.

John-Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary; and siblings George and Grace.

John-Mark is survived by his cherished wife Jana; children Peggy (Sean) Mathis, and Jackson; grandchildren Jayden, Azriel and Eli; siblings Comfort, Jones, Anthony, Mary, Sarah, Emmanuel, and Johanna; and numerous church brothers and sisters throughout the world.
