John William Garner, 86, of Blackduck, MN died on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at his home in Cormant Township, MN.

John was born on March 6, 1936 in Tucson, Arizona, the son of John and Josephine (Cooper) Garner. He lived in Taft and Oakland, California.

He was united in marriage to Mary Scharff on July 25, 1958 in Boise, Idaho. They moved to a farm in Cormant Township in 1967 and have been farming there since.

John is survived by 4 sons, Christopher Lee (Rhonda) Garner of Bemidji, MN, John Allen (Denise) Garner of Savage, MN, Joseph Clair (Aiza) Garner of Woodbury, MN and Patrick Dean (Maria) Garner of Reeseville, WI; 3 grandchildren, Christopher James (Amanda) Garner of Hopkins, MN, Casey Andrew (Leah) Garner of Richland Center, WI and Calvin Garner of Woodbury, MN; 2 great grandchildren, Eli Robert Garner and Quinn Ellen Garner, both of Hopkins, MN; and 2 step-sisters, Karen Garner of Albany, CA and Cheryl (Greg) Schmierer of Rocklin, CA.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John William “Bill” Garner and Josephine “Jo” Marie (Cooper) Garner.
