John Shull

May 3, 1964 – August 12, 2025

Blaine, MN, USA

John Shull of Blaine, MN died on August 12, 2025, when he tragically drowned in Lake Superior. Born on May 3, 1964 and raised in Columbia Heights, MN, John will be remembered for his patriotism, sharp mind, and sarcastic humor.

Master Sergeant John Shull served his country, friends, and family with honor and loyalty. A veteran of the United States Air Force, John retired in 2006 after serving nearly 23 years. In his career he was stationed in Nebraska, Germany, Arkansas, and North Dakota. At his time of death, he was a proud mail carrier for the US Postal Service.

John is survived by his wife Colleen Shull, son Christian Shull (Betsy Narr), daughter Alexis Shull (Noushelong Vang), mother Mary Jo Shull, siblings Sheila (Tim) Mulvaney, Brett (Rebekah) Shull, Ryan Shull, Cristy Jo (Shawn) Lawrence, sisters-in-law Carrie (Frank) Newman, Mary Kaye (Dewayne) Dockery, Kristine McQuiston, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Shull and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Laura McQuiston.

John loved his family, the Minnesota North Stars, dogs, quoting movies that made him laugh, self-deprecating humor, singing along with the radio, and traveling in the last part of his life. We are left with his quips and many good, funny stories; he is deeply missed.
