A giving friend, a proud father, a loving son

About John

John Pierre Latourelle was born to Jack and Betty Latourelle in Owatonna, Minnesota in Steele County on January 1st, 1963. John was the first “New Year Baby” that year being born at 2:30 a.m. resulting in lots of baby gifts but no tax deduction for the previous year!

John attended the Roseville Public schools and graduated from Frank B. Kellogg High School in 1981 making many friends along the way. He also had many neighborhood friends where John was the gregarious informal leader of the troupe providing memories for many.

John was formerly married to Brenda Meyer and became a proud father to two sons: CJ and Dominick whom he loved dearly.

John had many interests including a lifelong passion of restoring cars, cooking, eating, wood working and fixing old items. John had a talent for taking things apart and putting them back together better than ever whether it was a lamp, an engine, or a tool. He was gifted with artistic abilities and passed his talents on to his sons.

John worked in various trucking and automotive related industries in multiple roles until 2015 when he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome (a rare disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks the body’s nerves). After this, John became disabled, and his health continued to gradually decline. He often referred to his being disabled as “my new normal”.

John unexpectedly passed away quietly at home on January 4th, 2022. He is survived by his sons CJ and Dominick, loving parents, Jack and Betty, brothers Dennis (Elfriede) Tom (Anne), nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, including his former in-laws, Chuck and Carol Meyer, who treated John like a son. May we keep John’s spirit alive with the memories we share, and the stories we tell.
