Celebration of John Gossman’s life

June 7, 2026

Join us for a Celebration of Life honoring John — beloved husband, son, brother, friend, lover of the outdoors, and one stubborn guy who never stopped fighting.

We’ll gather to share stories, laughs, and memories.

Most importantly, this day is about celebrating the incredible life he lived and surrounding Amy with the same love and support that brought John peace in his final days.

Please come as you are, bring your favorite John story, and help us celebrate a life well lived.

Details - Please bring your own utensils, drinks and a dish to share. We’ve been told that John’s favorite chocolate cake (with special frosting) and fish fry will be provided. A mic and speaker will be available for those who want to share memories and plenty of space to escape the crowd if you want to share another way.

Early arrivals will be put to work.

About John

John lived as he wanted. A great partner, wonderful friend and the glue holding his huge family together.

He grew up with 11 siblings Greg, Mike, Julie, Cheryl, Tom, Pat, David, Laurie, Terry and Chris in rural Cresco, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents Herb and Naomi and sister Marie. John is survived by his best friend and partner, Amy, her family, dozens of nephews and nieces and even greats on the Gossman side, co-workers and many friends, spreading love and smiles until the end. He will be greatly missed.

life story

Farm boy, fisherman and traveler

While living with stage 4 cancer John traveled to Alaska, Mexico and the Grand Canyon for their 30th anniversary (his bucket list wish). His dying wish was to go fishing again. Please take him with you next time and get that big one. It's waiting for you.
