On Tuesday November 14th 2023, John Gregory Johnson, of Cass Lake, MN, passed away at his home. He was 70 years old.
John Gregory Johnson was born May 28th, 1953 in Bemidji, MN to J. Martin and Ellen Johnson. He attended Ferris School and graduated from Cass Lake High School. After high school John joined the Navy in 1972-1975 and was in the Vietnam War on the aircraft carrier USS Hancock as an aircraft electrician.
John returned to Cass Lake and married Donna Bohn on September 2, 1978. They settled in Rochester, MN and had their first son Erik. Shortly after they moved to Cody, WY and had their second son Lars. In 1984, they returned to Cass Lake.
John was a lifelong carpenter and retired in 2012. He was a member of the local 606, a volunteer firefighter for the Cass Lake fire and rescue, a member and a past president of the Minnesota Darkhouse & Angling Association. He also was an avid a member of the NRA. John enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening. His time indoors was spent watching westerns and reading.
After the birth of his grandchildren Marcus and Mason he loved spending time watching their sporting activities. Later in life he enjoyed his shiny new red tractor with brush hog.
John is survived by is wife Donna Johnson, two sons Erik (Joie) Johnson of Horace, ND, Lars (Kassie) Johnson of Clearwater, MN, two grandchildren Marcus and Mason Johnson, sisters Lois (Gordy) Ova of Monticello, MN, Marianne (Isaac) Kamrud of Bemidji, MN, Carol (Gary) Begeman of Cody, WY and many nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by is parents Martin and Ellen Johnson, sisters Deloris (Bunny) Broekemeier, and Marjorie (Charles) DeVorak.

There will be two hours of visitation prior to the service at the church starting at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Farris-Farden Township Cemetery outside of Cass Lake, MN.
