life story

Shortly after midnight on March 30, 2025, God's angels escorted John Edward Palecek into the glorious presence our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

John was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on February 22, 1951. Being the youngest of six, John adored his sisters and idolized his three brothers. The only thing John loved more than cars, sports, hunting, fishing, tractor pulls, camping, and woodworking was family and the Lord.

He is survived by Marie, his beloved wife of 48.5 years, their son, Peter (Emma), brother, Thomas (Sandra), Sisters Helen (John) Koslucher, and Pauline (Donald) Johnson, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Pete Palecek, his brothers, James (Vivian), and Robert (Sally).

The only thing bigger than John's smile was his heart

One time he left a tip which was several times our entire bill for a new waitress who provided the worse service ever! "Are you crazy?" I objected. "Our food was cold by the time she brought silverware. I had to get our own to-go containers. What are you thinking?"

"Look around," John said softly. "Do you think any of those tables will give her any kind of tip? She's doing the best she can. How is she going to come back tomorrow without some encouragement tonight?" Well, she did come back. And John always got great service. And she always earned a generous tip after that evening. Generously doesn't mean you have deep pockets - it means you have a deep heart.
