February 8, 2022
Age 83
Joann was born in Cedar County, Nebraska to Peter and Ethel (Bajuniemi) Pedersen, the 3rd of their 4 children. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class from Belden High School in 1956. After earning a teaching certificate, Joann taught in a one-room schoolhouse until she married in 1960.
Along with raising 2 children, Joann worked for many years at various companies as a bookkeeper, ever favored by her kind demeanor and efficient work.
Later, Joann happily remarried and enjoyed her nearly 40 years with her husband and his adult children, and eagerly supported them on their lives’ journeys through marriage and children of their own. The highlight was the annual Comer family reunion, where it wasn’t unusual for over 50 members to be present.
Joann’s favorite times always involved music. From playing the piano and accordion from a young age, she parlayed that talent into serving as a church organist for many, many years. She also supported church choirs with her voice and piano skills.
She is survived by her 2 children, David and Elizabeth, and her 6 step-children, Elizabeth, Patrick, Pamela, John, Amelia and Timothy, their spouses, 18 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and closest friend, Jane. Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers, Arlen and Dan. Most significantly, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack.
Joann will be remembered for her devotion to her Lord and His church, her sweet smile and light laughter, and her love for her family.
