life story

Jesse James Dohmen, age 54, of Hastings, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Jesse was born on June 28, 1971 in Justice, Illinois. He grew up in Hampton, Minnesota, where he attended grade school at St. Mathias before finishing his education at Hastings High School and then onto the labor union. Throughout his life, Jesse was known for his hard work as a laborer who took pride in his work and dedication to providing for those he loves.

On November 2nd, 2025, Jesse married his long time love, Tracy Caneff at the Mayo Clinic chapel, while surrounded by his family and friends. The day was filled with love and meant a great deal to him that he could marry the love of his life.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Tracy Caneff; Lillia Dohmen, his daughter whom was his greatest pride and joy; his stepson, Payton Burr; his parents, Larry Dohmen and Maggie Holzemer of Hampton; his brothers, Jonathan Dohmen and Jerred Dohmen; his sister, Jennifer Dohmen; and many loving family members and friends.

Jesse faced life with grit and strength, never losing who he was along the way. His wit, presence and steady spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Jesse’s celebration of life is January 2 from 4 to 7 at the Hastings Public House, address is 2015 Westview Dr Hastings, Minnesota 55033.
