Jenifer Lynn Hogen
June 13, 1968 – January 29, 2022
Roseville, MN 55113, USA
Jenny Hogen, the diminutive, energetic epicenter of our family, passed away quietly on Saturday, January 29, in St. Paul. Our elfin princess lived an amazing life, never paying heed to the obstacles she faced from a surplus chromosome. She talked a mile a minute, was a social butterfly, and loved to dance and sing at every opportunity. Jenny enjoyed camping, biking, kayaking, cross-country skiing and fishing with her family, who patiently taught her. She loved movies, music, reading and writing, attending the State Fair, and visiting the Zoo.
Jenifer’s joy was pure and shameless. She participated in Merry Music Makers, Girl Scouts, and Special Olympics. She was a prolific artist, working in the media of colored markers, pipe cleaners, pony beads, and masking tape. Other hobbies included polaroid photography, watching Twins and Vikings games, making bracelets, and collecting Hello Kitty trinkets, water bottles, and fanny packs.
Through RISE services, Jen worked at Hoffman Manufacturing for fifteen years until retirement, and then attended Emma B. Howe YMCA’s day program. She had a unique sense of fashion, and if you’re favorite color wasn’t purple, she’d quickly admonish you. Her vast lavender wardrobe rivaled that of Prince, but with more sequins. She loved people unconditionally.
Jenifer was preceded in death by her dad, Del Hogen, and is survived by her Mom, Carol, sister Suzanne (Paul) Melchior, nephews Sam and Theo Melchior, her housemates and staff at ACR Homes, and the hundreds of people whose lives she improved.
