life story
Jeffrey (Jeff) L. Leclerc died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Jeff was born and raised in North Dakota, graduating from South Fargo High School, he went on to graduate with a B.A. from the University of North Dakota, ultimately earning his J.D. from the University of North Dakota School of Law. Jeff then had the privilege of clerking for Judge Myron H. Bright for the Eight Circuit Court of Appeals. Jeff earned his attorney licenses in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Alaska. He had the opportunity to practice law and live in Alaska for a number of years where he met several amazing lifelong friends whom he cherished until the day he died. He then moved to Minnesota and practiced law for a number of years in Minneapolis until he retired.
While Jeff practiced law, his true love was the outdoors – hunting, hiking, climbing, fishing, etc. He was a true outdoorsman having many varied interests and hobbies along with ALL the equipment those hobbies entailed. He took great joy in helping people and, if you had a project, he was the first in line to help, plan, or "supervise". He loved to putz around and always had more than three or four projects going at the same time. He may not have finished those projects, but boy, did he have big plans.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; sisters, Martha (Leo), Joan (Harout), and Rebecca; his beloved sons, Steven (Emylee) and Jacob; nieces, Eleanor (Max), Virginia (Ryan), and Genevieve; and nephews Eliot, Aram, and Isaac; as well as various aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wonderful parents, Larry and Kay Leclerc. A private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Literacy Minnesota, Wounded Warriors, or Disabled American Veterans.
