About Jean
A 76-year Washington County resident passed away at her home on May 25 th , 2026, surrounded by family. She was born March 20th, 1946, in Illinois to Darrel and Patricia Marshall. Jean attended Mahtomedi High School, where she met her husband of 61 years, Dennis W. Widenstrom (Denny). Jean and Denny were married in the summer of 65 and had four children together. Jean was a secretary in the Mahtomedi school district for almost 20 years before she retired. Jean and Denny enjoyed traveling (Montana, Florida, Hawaii), watching their favorite TV shows, garage-saling, spending time in the backyard, and visiting with family, neighbors, and friends.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Denny, her son-in-law (Bryce Curtis), her granddaughter (Natasha Lukacs). Jean is survived by her children, Paul (Shannon) Widenstrom, Melissa Curtis, Cynthia (Matthew) Haseman, and Ryan (Dawn) Widenstrom; her grandchildren, Zoey Lukacs, Randi (Nick) Netteberg, Anika Lukacs, Joe Curtis, Mia and Chace Widenstrom, Brittany (John) Sassen; her great-grandchildren, Arian and Jaylon Day, Vivian Netteberg, Nolan, Easton, Tucker, and Lexi Sassen; her siblings, Mike Marshall, Jim (Colleen) Marshall, Karen Marshall, Jill (Dan) Clark, Colleen (Mike) Pehl, Greg (Ann) Marshall and many more beloved family and friends.
Jean found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, the dime game, or dice with her family out in the porch or by the pool, where she could hear chickadees chirping, frogs croaking, grandchildren laughing, and, hopefully,
someone yelling “Yahtzee!” Jean loved taking care of her flowers, going to church, hosting family gatherings, watching the Vikings, and having early morning coffee chats with the local news on in the background. Jean shared her resiliency, strength, and wisdom with the people she loved by teaching them about life’s valuable lessons: always keep the faith, even when life gets hard, visit the people who are important to you-visit often, and gift boxes are always better than gift bags. She will be remembered with affection by those who knew her and by those whose lives she impacted with her kindness and friendship.
