life story

Wild creator and force of nature

Jane Rosalie Hawkner of Minneapolis passed away in Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul MN on February 24th 2021 after fighting metastatic breast cancer for 6 1/2 years. Jane was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 17th to Fern and Harold Hansen. She Graduated from Watertown-Mayer High School and later studied guitar at Musictech College.

Jane worked as the co-owner and Creative Director at Eye of Horus Metaphysical, where she was known by customers as Jane the Scribe for the monthly newsletters she wrote and edited. She enjoyed participating in Paganicon, a pagan spirituality conference as well as a number of science fiction and fantasy conventions in the Twin Cities, including Minicon, Convergence, Fourth Street Fantasy Convention and Narrativity. She was an avid lifelong fan of the Lord of the Rings since she first read them at the age of 10.

As a writer, she was a member of the Lady Poetesses from Hell and was published in a collection under that title. Info can be found here: https://eleanorarnason.com/book/lady-poetesses-from-hell/

Jane was also a proud mother of cats, most recently Patrick (Trick) and Hale. As an artist she explored photography, pen and ink drawing, and is most known for her wire wrapped gemstone pendants. She was always learning more about music, and had a nice collection of acoustic and electric guitars.

She loved walking the Minneapolis lakes and the greenway to stay fit and connected to nature. Jane is survived by her wife Thraicie Hawkner, twin sister Beth Hansen, brother Kent Hansen and was predeceased by her parents Fern and Harold Hansen.
