Beloved Daughter
Jamie passed Friday August 9, 2024 after a long battle with intestinal failure and gastroparesis.
About Jamie
Jamie's life was full of energy. She enjoyed summer camps, gymnastics, and went on to be part of a competition cheerleading team. Her brother Logan was her playmate, riding bikes, special olympics and swimming buddy. A member of the youth group and Missionary team at East Greenwich United Methodist church. One of her favorite things to do before moving was helping out at a Friendship breakfast for the homeless in downtown Providence- she talked about cracking over 700 eggs for months.
Jamie attended Woodridge Elementary School in Cranston, RI. She then moved on to Hugh B Bain middle school in Cranston, RI. That was her favorite school. She served on student council, cross country racing and participated as a wreath bearer during the memorial day presentation. Member of the junior honor society and was awarded the highest recognition on honors night 2018, the Ideal Bainite.
She then moved onto Cranston High school East. She joined the theater group and took care of the sound board for "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown". She also was an active participant in JROTC where she had joined the competition drill team and would travel to other states to compete. Her actual school experience influenced her to get her high school education in an alternate way. She excelled and graduate high school 2 years early in 2020.
A trip with dad to see her oldest brother lead to her decision to apply to The University of Minnesota in Duluth.
Jamie and her dad found their home in chilly Minnesota down the street from Justin, Alisha, Opal and Maple.
Because of struggling medical issues and hospital stays, UMD was not possible. She switched to Anoka Ramsey Community College (ARCC). Again she jumped in with energy, several semesters as president of psych club, member of International Honor Society- Phi Theta Kappa and Trio Student Support services. Jamie also received the schools "Presidential Award for Excellence and Service".
2023 Started with a decline in health and more serious issues. Summer of 2023 looked promising, switching from pediatric doctors to adult lead to some opportunity for improvement. Things started looking up. She met a wonderful man named Brady. The two of them became a part of each others families, They were always smiling as they experienced life as a couple. Hiking, concerts, ice skating, car shows, comedy shows & just doing things young couples do.
April of 2024 Jamie's medical issues sort of took over things. Luckily for us, an angel in our midst, Cindy, opened her home to Jamie. An experienced hospice nurse with years of experience and loaded with a love for seeing Jamie pain free and enjoying what time she had left. She not only provided 24/7 nursing care, and created a core group of care givers and nurses. She took Jamie on outings to celebrate the good things Jamie accomplished. This included trips to Starbucks, Culvers, Walmart, Flower shopping, Taco Bell, and most special, a trip to Lowe's to visit dad, get some plants and sparklers for the 4th of July.
Jamie's last day was a good one, resting, pain free and visited by family and friends all day long.
Jamie is survived by: her dad Ed (MN), mom Cheryl (RI), brothers Logan (RI), Justin and sister in law Alisha, nieces Opal and Maple (MN), Grandparents Russ and Diane Hathaway (RI) and Anne Angilly(RI).
