James Kenneth Foster, 85, Park Rapids, MN passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

He was born to Kenneth and Mabelle Foster in Minneapolis, MN on September 7, 1936. He grew up in south Minneapolis and graduated from Central High in 1953.

He earned the rank of Eagle Scout. James attended the University of Minnesota, was employed there as a graduate student, a research assistant, and as a Professor of Mathematics. He retired from the University of Minnesota Computer Center in 1992.

James married Dorothy on December 7, 1974. They were married for 48 years. In 2018, they moved to Park Rapids. Throughout his life James was active in his church.

James is survived by his wife, Dorothy Foster of Park Rapids; sons, Richard (Tammy) of Hopkins, Roger (Amy) of Osage; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mabelle Foster and daughter, Roxanne Way.
