James John Weyker

Minneapolis, MN, USA
life story
Father, uncle, brother, friend, chef, electrician, radio announcer, contractor, bike rider,
Get yourself a “little something to spill” or “let me polish my nails”, he was a skilled handy man with a unique motto: “ if I can’t fix it, it ain’t broken”, or…
"You can pick your nose, you can pick your friends, but you can’t pick your friends nose”. Those were just a few of Jim’s funny quips. His gift to connect with all he met, a great mind, a great radio announcer, good at cards, cribbage and backgammon, what a life!
About Jim….Jack…John…the international man of mystery!
Jim was born in Worthington, MN to Ruth Gertz Cashel and Nicholas Weyker. He was very close to his mom, Ruth. He had 5 older siblings: Bob, Mary, Janet, Jane and Nick. He graduated from Worthington HS, broadcasting schools in Florida and MN, as well as an electrician degree. He owned Mama Mushroom's Pizza restaurant with his first wife Sherry, in Windom, MN. He ran his own handy man construction business too. He is survived by at least 5 kids- Heather (Mike), Max (Heather), Cabbott, Cedar (Elia) and Seaira (Erik). 5 grandkids: Dominic (Arly), Sydney, Preston, Brielle and Arianna. Jim has many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. They all have happy memories of happy, fun Uncle Jim!
Jim loved rock n roll! Jim loved music - from The Rolling Stones, Beatles, Elvis, and CCR, Traveling Wilbury's, Bob Dylan, Elvis and So So So many more!
He loved acting! His role as "Tevia" in Fiddler on the Roof was truly academy award winning!
He loved movies. Some of his favorites: Napoleon Dynamite, Star Wars series, The Big Lebowski, comedies, Disney movies, and the list goes on....He passed away wearing a Mickey Mouse watch.
Jim enjoyed bike riding, gardening, listening to the MN Twins, and putzing with stuff around the yard.
He enjoyed a good steak dinner and spending time with his two good friends from high school, Dave and Koob.
Jim quietly fought liver/bone cancer. A true shock to us all!
We will a host a Celebration of Life ceremony on May 17th, 2026. When you arrive, please come prepared to share a great story. Make sure to wear your favorite Rolling Stones shirt, or a music t-shirt from his favorite 70/80's band. More details to come later.
