About Jim

Jim was ever gentle, kind, generous, supportive, steadfast, and always optimistic. He enjoyed ‘60s muscle cars, the ocean, travel, collies, and WWE wrestling. Above all else, he deeply loved his extended family.

After a long illness, Jim got his wings on June 3, 2023.

Jim was born in St. Paul MN on May 18, 1946, the oldest son of Edna and Gordon Trepp. He grew up in South St. Paul and attended South St. Paul High School. Jim worked in the building industry for his entire career.

Jim was the most beloved husband and best friend of Pat Trepp. Cherished father of Rick Mertens and Cathy Mertens, Gordy Trepp, and Julie Trepp. Beloved Pepe of Nicholas Mertens, Sara Mertens, Jordan Lundin, and Ashton Trepp. Treasured brother of Judy McAlpine, special brother-in-law to Roger, Judy, Ron, and Leanne Harvieux.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, and his brother Bob Trepp.

Our sincere thanks to the entire staff at The Estates of Woodbury Senior Living who cared for Jim with such kindness and respect. Special thanks, too, to the wonderful nurses and aides from St. Croix Hospice who made Jim’s journey so much easier for him and for our family.

There will be a private gathering later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim’s name to the Minnesota Wisconsin Collie Rescue.
