Gone too soon!

It is with great sadness that the family of James Andrew Bussey announce his peaceful passing on July 16, 2024 at the young age of 64.

He will be lovingly remembered by his immediate family; mother, Barbara Sisler; sister, Cheryl Hoyum (Robert); brothers, Robert Bussey (Kari), Paul Bussey (Brenda); nieces, Sonja Hoyum Wildwood (Robert), Danielle Eakman, Kaylee Bussey, Amelia Bussey; and nephews Peder Hoyum (Andrea) and Nils Hoyum as well as numerous relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his father Robert J. Bussey.

Jim was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 17th, 1959. In 1967, the Bussey Family relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he graduated from Robbinsdale High School and shortly after received a Tool and Die Maker degree from Dunwoody College of Technology.

Jim loved nothing more than the camaraderie that came with being in nature. He enjoyed the annual fishing trips that brought together brothers, nephews and family, creating bonds that would last a lifetime. In addition, he loved the experience of the annual deer hunt in the Northwoods of Minnesota near Saum with his brother-in-law and his family. He was also an avid golfer who spent countless hours with friends on courses around the state, highlighted by a hole-in-one at Baker National Golf Course.

Anyone who spent time with him know he had a knack for making even the most mundane situations seem entertaining, whether through his humor, storytelling, insights, or sheer joy in the simple things.

In addition to his love for nature, Jim had an unmatched commitment to gardening with countless hours researching, discovering, working in his garden, and sharing its bounty.

His generosity extended beyond the outdoors; he was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors, family, and friends, embodying the essence of community spirit.

While we mourn his loss, we celebrate Jim’s remarkable life. He taught us to appreciate the simple things: a sunrise over the water, the thrill of a catch, and the warmth of a campfire shared with friends. As we gather to remember him, we invite all who knew him to honor his memory by sharing stories, smiles, and the affection he so freely gave.

Jim Bussey may no longer walk among us, but his spirit, like the rivers he loved, will flow through our hearts forever. Rest in peace, dear soul; you will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Pastor Nick and his staff at Emmaus Lutheran Church for their support through these difficult days.
