life story

It is with great sadness that the family of Jacob Dennis LaMott announce his peaceful passing at Abbott Northwestern Hospital on 9/3/2024 after a lifelong battle with Epilepsy. He was 49, born on 9/24/74 in Minneapolis and lived in Apple Valley. He was a kind soul who despite having many setbacks caused by Epilepsy, remained positive. His smile, laughter and kind heart will be missed by all that knew him. Jacob was proud to have worked in a supported work environment at East Suburban Resources (ESR, now RISE) for over 22 years. He loved the music of REO Speedwagon, knew the words to almost all their songs, and was thrilled to have attended 3 of their concerts between 2021 and 2023. His favorite song was "Can't Fight This Feeling" Anymore....which is so appropriate for all the health challenges he had encountered, especially over the last several years. He was also an active participant in the Special Olympics and more recently in activities provided by Project Explorer. He also enjoyed going to movies, going out to eat (especially at Pizza Hut), and adaptive bowling. He enjoyed watching Minions, SpongeBob and Highway thru Hell (truck rescue/recovery series). He rode his exercise bike (PhysioStep) regularly, about 3 to 4 miles daily for a weekly outing to get a healthy protein shake. Jacob was an organ donor and Life Source indicated that over 100 lives were improved due to his contributions.

Jacob was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; sister, Geri Ablan; and brother-in-law, Mike Ablan. He is survived by his father, Dennis; brother, Joe (Valerie); sisters, Judy (Joe) Schwartz and Jackie (Nancy) Nelson-LaMott; and many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Jacob's Life will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11 AM at Church of the Risen Savior (1501 East County Road 42, Burnsville, MN 55306), with visitation one hour prior. Family will meet at Lebanon Cemetery, Apple Valley, MN following lunch for interment.
