About Jack
On June 24, 2021, Jack Gregory Vander Waal passed away due to complications from dementia.
Jack was born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 20, 1953 to Mary and Paul “Dutch” Vander Waal. Jack graduated from Drake University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science, Accounting. Jack was a certified public accountant, certified financial planner, and held numerous financial and insurance licenses. Jack was an active member in the Burnsville Breakfast Rotary and served as its President.
Anyone who met Jack since 2017 can attest what a vicious disease dementia can be. For his family and friends that have known him longer, they will remember the laconic, easygoing, and humorous man.
Jack loved attending Minnesota Vikings football games, live comedy shows, live rock concerts, and his yearly trip to St Maarten. What Jack loved most was being an active father to his daughter, the world’s best grandfather to his two grandsons, and cherishing his life with his best friend, partner, and wife of nearly 48 years, Debbie.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Wheeler); daughter, Marci Mogg (Bill); two grandchildren, Henry and Felix; siblings: Cheri, Steve, Debbie, Micki, and Patty; and many nieces and nephews.
