Isabell Margaret Modest (Ott), 92 of rural Tenstrike, MN died on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at her home with her family at her side.

Isabell was born September 15, 1931 in Gerolzhofen, Germany, the daughter of Lorenz & Maria (Schneider) Ott. She lost her mother in 1987 and her father two years later.

She immigrated to Phoenix, Arizona on March 28, 1951, where she met and fell in love with Kurt Ernst Modest. They were united in marriage on August 5, 1953 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Her husband joined the US Air Force and retired 24 years later. They were stationed for many years at Ramstein and Wiesbaden Air Force Base, Germany and also spent 2 years in Taipei, Taiwan, in addition to many assignments stateside. They moved in 2016 to live near her daughter and family in Tenstrike, MN. She loved to entertain, bake and cook.

Isabell is lovingly survived by her daughter, Sue (Jerry) Young of Tenstrike, MN; son, Ron (Stepheni Reynolds) Modest of Myrtle Beach, SC; 4 grandsons, Corey (Erin) Young of Round Rock, TX, Staff Sgt. Shawn (Phoebe) Young, US Army, Aaron (LeeAnn Fraley) Young of Bemidji, MN and Kaleb (Kelsey) Young of Depew, OK; 3 great grandchildren, Brooks, Savannah and Isabella “Bella” Young; sister, Anna “Anni” Maria (Alfred) Mueller (Ott) of Gerolzhofen, Germany; and many nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Kurt E. Modest, who passed on April 24, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN; her parents; and brother, Konrad Ott, who passed in 2015 in Germany.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held.

Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Blackduck, MN.
