About Ida
Ida Mae Dickenson, whose Ojibwe name is “Waabi binesii kwe” which means White Thunderbird Woman, 93, of Red Lake, MN made her journey in the spirit world Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Sanford Fargo Medical Center.
Ida was born December 21, 1929 in Red Lake, Minnesota the daughter of George and Mamie (Kelly) Rossbach. She was born and raised in Red Lake. She attended Red Lake High School. Ida enjoyed traveling to Pow-Wows and watching her children sing and dance.
She loved riding around the lake and sharing her stories, and her knowledge. Ida loved downtown Minneapolis. She often took her children to the Harvest House, Jakeenos, and Nankin back in the day. She loved feeding her wild birds every morning. She loved people watching. She enjoyed the Young and the Restless for over 50 years. Of course she loved the casino, but the greatest love of her life was spending time caring for her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren. It sounds unbelievable, but she had the time for each and everyone of her family members morning noon or night, she had such a love and respect for life.
Her love for animals was so deep that she made it a point to pray for them every day even the ones that had passed and through that love, her legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren who also love animals. Anyone who was fortunate enough to be in her presence was graced by her light, beauty, elegance, and class.
She is survived by her children,
Ruth “Willie” Cobenais, Kathy Chaboyea, Muriel Dickenson, James Dickenson, Kim Baker Dickenson, Rhonda Desjarlait, and Shelda Dickenson
