Harold Henry Payne, 95, of Nevis, MN passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Serenity Living Solutions Assisted Living in Remer, MN.

He was born in Chicago, IL on April 23, 1927 to Harold and Minnie (Braatz) Payne. He grew up in Hinsdale, IL. When Harold was a junior in High School he and two classmates enlisted in the service and he served in the U.S. Navy.

On September 8, 1951 he was united in marriage to Lois Krisher. They raised their family in Westmont, IL. Harold was employed by the United States Postal Service as a walking mail carrier in Hinsdale, IL. After Lois passed, Harold moved to Nevis, MN.

Harold enjoyed fishing and small game hunting. He loved eating at restaurants in Nevis and Park Rapids and took his family out to eat at every opportunity. Harold loved watching Chicago Cubs baseball games and Chicago Bears football.

Harold is survived by his daughters - Debra Kuhnert of Downers Grove, IL, Sandra (Jeff) Mickelson of Park Rapids, MN; 5 grandchildren - Eric (Alissa) Mickelson, Maria (Stephen) Brown, Scott (Marlana) Mickelson, Daniel (Tonya) Mickelson, Andrew (Lauren) Mickelson; 13 great grandchildren – Ian Mickelson, Jack Mickelson, Vali Sippola, Anja Sippola, Soren Brown, Sunniva Brown, Selena Mickelson, Ethan Mickelson, Kenna Mickelson, Raelyn Mickelson, Seren Mickelson, Esme Mickelson, and Leni Mickelson.

He is preceded in death by his wife - Lois Payne; parents – Harold Sr. and Minnie Payne; and sister, Jeanette Schmidt.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday October 4, 2022 from 4 until 7 PM at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Park Rapids, MN.
