life story
Loving husband, father and friend.
Henry Randall Mickelson, known to most as Hank, was born on May 26th, 1961, in Duluth, Minnesota, and passed away on May 10th, 2026, in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Hank served his country in the United States Navy as a boiler tech for 4 years before settling down in Cottage Grove in 1988. After meeting and marrying the love of his life, Pamela, in 1991, he went on to spend 38 years as an Injection Molder at Adair Plastics. Between his time in the Navy and his career, he was the ‘jack of all trades’; If something needed fixing, Hank had likely already thought of three ways to fix it and one joke to go with it. He understood the value of showing up, doing the work, and leaving things better than he found them. Hank’s main interest was the Minnesota Vikings, and Cornhole was a close second. Those who knew Hank will remember his big heart, his sharp wit, and the way he could make a tough day feel a little lighter. We will remember a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and never let life get too serious for too long. He lived out his final days with the same grit and wit that marked his life, and even in the worst of times, he remained himself and made a joke. His day could not end without making someone laugh.
Hank is preceded in death by his father, Wesley Mickelson; his stepfather, Orvie Townsend; and his idol B. Grant, of the MN Vikings. Hank is survived by his wife Pamela, his children Stephanie (Joseph) & Nicole (Adam), his mother Bette Townsend, his stepmother Darlene Mickelson, his siblings John (Tam), Wendy, Lori, Jeffrey (Faye), Steven (Ann), and stepsiblings, as well as many nieces and nephews.
