A loving father and grandfather
Greig Skallman Grove, age 79, of Chisago City, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home on July 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of family.
Greig was born on November 20, 1946, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Tate and Vivy Grove. He grew up in Bigfork, Minnesota, alongside his two brothers, Doug Grove and Brad Grove, where he developed a lifelong love of the outdoors, family, and community.
Greig proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military service and two years of study at the University of Minnesota, he went on to enjoy a career as a meat cutter for more than 35 years. He was respected for his hard work, dedication, and friendly nature.
In 1973, Greig married Barb Grove. They shared 20 years of marriage and were blessed with two children, Ryan and Kari.
Above all else, Greig was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He had a kind heart and a quiet strength that made everyone feel welcome. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family at holidays and sporting events. He also loved golfing, fishing, playing horseshoes, and making memories with those he loved.
Greig was preceded in death by his beloved son, Ryan Grove, and his parents, Tate and Vivy Grove.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kari (Grove)Jewett, and her husband, Joe Jewett; his grandsons, Brady Jewett and Bryce Jewett; his granddaughters, Alana Grove and Kathryn Lassi; his brothers, Doug Grove (Janet Grove) and Brad Grove (Tina Grove); along with many extended family members, cherished friends, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Greig's legacy is one of love, service, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his family. His gentle spirit, sense of humor, and generous heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life picnic will be held in Greig's honor at Big Marine Veterans Campground, 11300 180th St. N., Marine on St. Croix, MN 55047, on Sunday, September 20th, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with an Honor Guard Ceremony at 1:30 PM. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well lived.
