life story
Today our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of our beloved sister. Grayce “Jae” Hall was born January 4, 1961 and transitioned October 3, 2024 at the age of 63. Grayce grew up in St. Paul Minnesota and moved to Minneapolis after high school where she worked as a data analyst for many years. She studied accounting at Minnesota State University, but her education was interrupted with the birth of her beloved son Amos Henry Hall.
In a word Grayce could best be described as unconventional and embodied the meaning of a ‘Social butterfly’ It didn’t matter who you were, Grayce could and would strike up a conversation with you. She could make a joke about almost anything and loved to make people laugh. She also loved making comments that shocked you just to see your reaction.
Grayce was an excellent cook who loved trying different combinations of recipes and spices.
She was passionate about justice and fairness for the poor and marginalized of our society. And often took an active part in political rallies and protests with oxygen and walker in tow.
Grayce was happiest when she was singing with the Park Avenue Methodist Church Choir she dearly loved to sing and did not let her chronic lung condition stop her.
Grayce is preceded in death by her mother, Grace Mae Hall; her beloved brother, Amos Hall II; and her son, Amos Henry Hall. Grayce’s latter years were marked with intense mourning of the loss of her son Amos at 33 years of age. My prayer is that they are now all reunited.
Grayce has three siblings who mourn her loss , Her eldest brother, Ronnie Thompson and sisters, Elizabeth and Celestine Hall. We will all greatly miss her smile and adventurous spirit. And we are grateful that she now knows what it is like to be genuinely unbound, without disease, pain, or treatment. We are so grateful for the time, love and laughter we have shared with Grayce.
Grayce’s homegoing will be celebrated at Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 3400 Park Ave, Minneapolis, MN on Wednesday October 16th at 11am. Bring a smile and a story to help celebrate her life. All are welcome.
