Gloria (Ekwall) Jesperson

November 28, 1944 – July 19, 2026

Prior Lake, MN, USA

Gloria Constance (Ekwall) Jesperson, age 81, entered her heavenly home on July 19, 2026.

Gloria was born on November 28, 1944, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to Carl and Margaret Ekwall. A gifted musician from an early age, she began playing the piano by ear at just three years old. She later took formal piano lessons, won numerous talent contests, and at the age of nine performed on the radio. She attended and graduated from Goodridge High School.

As a teenager, Gloria met the love of her life, Lester Jesperson at a dance in Highlanding. They were married in 1962, shortly after Gloria turned 18, and together built a life centered on faith, family, and love. They began their married life in Minneapolis before eventually settling in Prior Lake, where they raised their family of seven children. Through life's many joys and challenges, Gloria and Lester remained deeply devoted to one another and steadfast in their Christian faith.

Gloria found great purpose and joy in being a homemaker, wife, mother, musician, and faithful member of her church. An accomplished pianist, she also shared her talents through singing and playing the accordion. She professionally recorded several albums and blessed countless people by providing music for weddings, funerals, church services, care centers, and community gatherings. During the Christmas season, Gloria and Lester delighted audiences by performing together as Mrs. and Mr. Santa Claus, bringing joy and laughter wherever they went.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. From an early age, she learned the verse “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may KNOW you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:13) and that verse cemented her lifelong faith. Gloria was actively involved in her church, participating in Bible studies and small groups that led to many cherished lifelong friendships. She also participated in church choirs, led music, was a lectern, volunteered on many church committees and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.

She had a generous heart and loved welcoming people into her home. Whether serving her homemade soups and fresh-baked bread or simply sharing conversation around her table, Gloria made everyone feel loved and cared for.

Gloria is lovingly survived by her children, Tim (Janet) Jesperson, Julie (Dan) Effertz, Lisa (Jeff) Gammon, Heidi (Bob) Pekarek, Amy (Perry) Gunderson, Matt Jesperson, and Nate Jesperson; 16 grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lester Jesperson; her parents, Carl and Margaret Ekwall; her brother and sisters; and one grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 1, at 11:30 a.m. at Mary, Mother of the Church Catholic Church, with Fr. Jim Perkl officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will follow.

Gloria's legacy of unwavering faith, beautiful music, generous hospitality, and unconditional love for her family will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
