Glenn William Marek, 67, of Fort Myers, FL passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 in Park Rapids, MN.

Glenn was born May 22, 1957 in Brookfield, WI to Wayne and Ruth (Schopp) Marek. He grew up in Wisconsin, graduated from the University of Wisconsin, and founded System Software Associates (SSA) in Chicago, IL before retiring to Chapel Hill, NC in 1993.

Glenn enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, golf, fishing, bridge, games with his family and friends, and dancing. He was active in the communities where he lived. He volunteered for the Hubbard County Food Shelf, was an elementary school tutor, counseled/mentored for the Service Corps of Retired Executives, served as a board member for the UNC Dental School and also the State of NC Teachers pension board. He was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids.

Glenn is survived by his son, Nicholas (Amanda) Marek and grandson, Miles Marek of Hillsboro, OR; brother, Gary (Patricia) Marek of Brookfield, WI; nephew, Michael (Hillary) Marek of Amherst, WI; and niece, Callista (Nick Van Cleave) Waitrovich of New Berlin, WI.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Wayne Marek.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Park Rapids in the summer of 2025.
