Glenda Jean LeJeune
December 30, 1938 – April 23, 2024
Cottage Grove, MN, USA
Glenda Jean (Moore) LeJeune of Cottage Grove, Minnesota passed away peacefully on April 23, 2024, after being diagnosed with lung cancer last fall. She was 85.
Glenda was born on December 30, 1938 in Upton, Wyoming, the daughter of Joseph and Lenore Moore. She grew up in Newcastle, Wyoming and Custer, South Dakota. Her family moved to Ankeny, Iowa her sophomore year. She was a 1957 graduate of Ankeny High School and it was there that she met the love of her life, Jon Ross LeJeune. The high school sweethearts married in 1960, built their dream house, and had two daughters, Michelle Jean and Lesli Alison, and a son, Jon Ross, Jr. Before she had children, Glenda worked as a bookkeeper at Nabisco in Des Moines, and when her children were old enough, she worked part time at NMDC Realty and Jim Skinner Realty, both in Urbandale.
In 1971 Glenda and Jon bought a farm in Adair County, Iowa, where they lived for 14 years and then bought 140 acres in Allamakee County in 1985 because they thought the scenery of Northeast Iowa was so pretty. They lived in Lansing, Iowa until Jon passed away in 2002 and Glenda then moved to Waukon, Iowa. She moved back to her home state of Wyoming in 2016, and finally moved to Cottage Grove, Minnesota in 2018 to be closer to her daughter.
Glenda was an avid reader of books about history, politics and aviation. She enjoyed baking (chocolate chip cookies, angel food cake and lemon meringue pie), sewing (Barbie had the best wardrobe!), crocheting and collecting Depression Era glassware from estate sales. She also loved listening to country music, especially Charley Pride. In her later years, she traveled with Jon in his semi to all but two of the Continental United States, and watched her son race his sprint and midget cars around Iowa and Wisconsin. She also volunteered at the hospital, nursing home and charity store in Waukon and actively campaigned for Obama in Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle, son, Jon Jr., her parents, Joseph and Lenore, her sister, Carol, and her brother, Alfred, and her husband, Jon Ross, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Lesli, and her son-in-law, Eric Pawlowski.
There is no service planned, and her ashes will be scattered in her beloved Wyoming later this summer. If you would like to make a donation, her daughter suggests Small Dog Rescue in Rochester, Minnesota, in memory of Glenda and in memory of her two dogs, Cuddles and Dewey.
Special thanks to White Pine Senior Living, Allina Hospice and Andrew, Bethany and Therese at Living Well for making Glenda’s last weeks more comfortable.
