Glen Howard Falk, 88, of Kelliher, MN died on Sunday, February 26 at Cornerstone Residence in Kelliher, MN.

Glen was born January 19, 1935, to Gustave and Myrtle (Johnson) Falk at their farm in Cormant Township, MN. He attended first grade at the Firman School and the remainder of his high school education at Kelliher before graduating in 1953.

He worked for the U.S. Forest Service at Camp Shoshone in Idaho and on a construction crew in Hoyt Lakes, MN prior to enlisting in the Army in 1958. Glen was trained in radio repair before serving in Korea. After the Army, he worked for Univac in St. Paul, MN and began dating his high school classmate, Judy Rust. They were married on May 6, 1961, and resided in Minneapolis before Glen was recalled into the Army that fall.

After he was discharged in 1962, they returned to his family farm where he farmed and spent many winters logging. In 1990, Glen and Judy built a retirement house in Quartzsite, AZ where they spent the winter, but they returned to the farm every spring in time to plant their garden.

In addition to being an avid gardener, Glen enjoyed working with wood. One of his favorite activities was turning wood into bowls, candleholders and vases on the turning lathe and then giving his creations away to family and friends.

Glen is survived by two daughters, Barb (Don) Schmidt of Kelliher and Lori (Rob Ames) Barbieri of Brooklyn Park, MN; and three grandchildren, Courtney Schmidt of Apple Valley, MN, Claudia Barbieri of Minneapolis, MN and Antonio Barbieri of Elk River, MN.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents; sister, Evelyn; brother, Donald; grandson, Brandon and infant granddaughter, Emma.

Glen’s family wants to thank the staff at Cornerstone Residence of Kelliher for the wonderful care they provided him with during the last years of his life.

March 11, 2023

Location: Kelliher Community Center from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Kelliher, MN at a later date.
