life story

Such a Cool Dude!!

About Jerry

Jerry was the first born of four siblings and a bit of a trouble maker right from the beginning. His interests included cars, bikes, sports, fishing, golf, music, mischief and socializing. He was the life of the party – which continued throughout his adult life. Jerry struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for many years, but at the age of 50, he decided enough was enough and found recovery and freedom in the AA Program. Working through the steps of this program brought him back to life. Here are some precious entries found in his journal:

“Fellowship in AA has literally taken me from the depths of hell to becoming a person with good character”

“Because God loves me, he has brought about an incredible change in me and I will forever be grateful to him.”

“My Father has done things for me that I could never have done for myself”

& “I will pass my story on to others because I have a lot of alcoholic friends that I would certainly like to see in Heaven.”

Jerry recently celebrated TWENTY years of sobriety and he would tell you that these twenty years were the best years of his life. He found himself, he found his Lord and he found a group of friends that walked with him, supported and loved him through the tough work of sobriety. We are all so very proud of him!

He will be lovingly remembered for his smile, kind heart, crazy sense of humor and the ability to recall the year and the album title of just about every song on the radio. He made the BEST oatmeal butterscotch cookies, creamy cucumbers and was know to fly pancakes across the room once in a while. He never turned down an invitation, was always ready to lend a hand and usually had some mints in his pocket and a bad joke up his sleeve.

We will miss him so much!

We thank God for His loving kindness and intervention. And to Jerry's friends in AA, on behalf of our family and everyone who knows and loves him, we cannot thank you enough for taking him in and making him a part of your family. Your love saved his live and made it something truly beautiful.
