Gene Fane Johnson, 89, Nevis, MN passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at his home.

Gene was born January 9, 1936 in Flint, MI to Donald and Sadie (Tonnar) Johnson. His family moved often and he attended school in many school districts before settling in Minneapolis. On June 24, 1955 Gene married Florelle Miller in Minneapolis. They worked and raised their family in the Twin Cities. Gene worked for several companies before working nearly 38 years at Honeywell. Both he and Florelle retired from Honeywell in 1991 and moved from Elk River to Lake Belle Taine. After 11 years on the lake, they moved to the woods outside of Dorset.

Gene enjoyed reading, snowmobiling, bowling, fishing, hunting and camping. He was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Nevis. He belonged to the Friends of the Park Rapids Library, the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Society for Asthmatic Children, and he was a Minneapolis Council member while living there.

Gene is survived by his daughter and “son” Deborah & Steven Sandahl of Nevis, MN; “other kids”—Dale and Sue Miller of Columbia Heights, MN; sister-in-law, Faye Lundquist of Blaine, MN; many cousins; friends; nieces; nephews; and precious kitty, Bobby Lu.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Florelle; his parents, Donald and Sadie; mother-in-law; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and his kitty, Tag the Streak.

Funeral Services for Gene

Bethany Lutheran Church 100 3rd Ave, Nevis, MN 56467, USA

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 13 at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Nevis and also for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Nevis.
