Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle

Gary Steven Stevenson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully on March 29th, 2025 at the age of 86. He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Stevenson (Van Cleve), his children Anne Bartoloni (John Bartoloni), Carrie Fleming (Kirk Fleming), Ellen Guild (Tim Guild), stepdaughter Cher Whitbeck (Stuart Whitbeck), stepson Eric Van Cleve (Lorie Jo Sachs), 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren as well as his sweet dog Cooper. Others left to cherish their memories of Gary are his sisters, Joy Boldon (Doug Boldon) and Kay Gerou, as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Gary was born on August 25th, 1938 in Minneapolis to Kenneth and Marion Stevenson. He spent his childhood growing up on Stubbs Bay and attended Orono Public Schools. At the age of 18 Gary enlisted in the Navy to serve his country and was stationed in Kingsville, TX.

After his time with the Navy ended and he started a family, Gary moved his young and growing family to Colorado. His years in Colorado were filled with great memories including horseback riding, camping and riding trail bikes in the mountains. Gary moved back to Minnesota in the fall of 1980 and eventually met Deborah Van Cleve and they were married on February 26th, 2005.

Gary was a very social and outgoing man and was loved by so many. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing and he taught his daughters how to catch and filet a fish by the age of 5. We loved all of his stories about fishing and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed and we will continue to celebrate his life by sharing stories about all of his adventures, treasured moments and memories.

A private ceremony will be held at a future date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.
